This hat is fairly awesome! I had a couple questions for you about it...I'm making a practice one now, and it's possible I'm being completely dense about the pattern, but I was hoping maybe you could help!

It seems weird to ask via comment, but here goes--I think the main thing I'm wondering is if you knit this in the round or just back and forth on circular needles, and stitching it up at the end (I started on double pointed and had to switch to circular). I think perhaps I also went wrong in some other places--hard for me to know! I hope you don't mind getting questions about this--I'm super-excited about making this :) many thanks in advance for your help (and for posting this pattern!)!

Christina, the hat is knit in the round except for the point shaping which is knit back and forth. It is similar to turning a heel in a sock.

So if you worked the crown on 3 needles you would shape the point by knitting back and forth on one of those needles, a third of the stitches, and once you've made a point you would continue in the round increasing and decreasing to accommodate for the point shaping. Let me know if that helped.
